Privacy Policy

1. Who We Are

Memoriq is developed and operated by May App Studio ("we", "us", "our"). If you have questions about this policy, contact us at contact@mayappstudio.com.

2. What Is Stored on Your Device

• Decks, notes, cards, tags, and review history
• Media you attach to notes (images, audio, video)
• App settings (theme, reminders, study preferences)
• Subscription and purchase status (cached locally)

This data remains entirely on your device and is not transmitted unless you opt in to one of the features described below.

3. Accounts and Cloud Sync

If you create an account and enable cloud sync, the following data is uploaded to our servers so you can access it across devices:

• Deck data, cards, and review history
• Media attachments
• Your email address (to identify your account)

Cloud sync data is stored on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure in the United States. You can delete your account and all associated server-side data at any time from Settings → Account.

4. AI-Powered Features

When you use AI card generation, the topic, uploaded files, and generation settings you provide are sent to our AI service provider to generate flashcard content. We do not use your content to train AI models. Generated cards are stored locally on your device (and on our servers if cloud sync is enabled).

5. Advertising

The free version of Memoriq displays banner ads served by Google AdMob. The ad provider may process device identifiers (such as an advertising ID) and basic usage signals to deliver and measure ads. If you subscribe to Memoriq Pro, ad display and related data collection stops.

6. Subscriptions and Purchases

Purchase and subscription status is managed through the platform app store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store). We receive a transaction confirmation and entitlement status via RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

7. Crash Reporting

Memoriq uses Sentry for crash reporting. When a crash or error occurs, a diagnostic report is sent that may include device model, OS version, app version, and a stack trace. These reports do not contain your card content or personal data.

8. Authentication

If you choose to create an account, authentication is handled by Amazon Cognito. You may sign in with email/password, Google Sign-In, or Sign in with Apple. We store only the information needed to identify your account (email address and a unique user identifier).

9. What Memoriq Does Not Do

• Memoriq does not sell your data.
• Memoriq does not use third-party analytics trackers.
• Memoriq does not share your card content with third parties unless you explicitly choose to export, share, or publish it.
• Memoriq does not engage in cross-app tracking.

10. Exports, Imports, and File Access

When you use Export/Restore or import from TSV/ZIP, Memoriq reads and writes files on your device. If you share an export file with another app (email, cloud drive, etc.), that app or service is governed by its own privacy policy.

11. Sharing and Library

If you publish a deck to the Library, the deck name, card content, and your chosen display name become publicly visible to other Memoriq users. Direct deck shares are visible only to the recipients you choose.

12. Permissions

Memoriq may request the following permissions only when needed for a specific feature:

• Camera / Media access: to attach images, audio, or video to notes
• Microphone: for audio recording on cards
• Notifications: to schedule study reminders
• Internet: for cloud sync, AI generation, ads, and purchases

You can deny any permission and still use the core study features.

13. Data Collected — Summary

The following categories of data may be collected, depending on which features you use:

• Email address — collected if you create an account; linked to your identity; used for account identification
• User identifier — collected if you create an account; linked to your identity; used for cloud sync
• Purchase history — collected to manage subscription entitlements; linked to your identity
• Crash data — collected automatically; not linked to your identity; used for stability improvements
• Performance data — collected automatically; not linked to your identity; used for stability improvements
• Advertising identifier — processed by Google AdMob for free-tier users; not linked to your identity; stops when you subscribe

14. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

• Contract performance: to provide the services you requested (account management, cloud sync, subscriptions).
• Legitimate interest: to maintain app stability (crash reporting) and prevent fraud.
• Consent: for advertising data processing. You can withdraw consent by subscribing to Memoriq Pro, which disables all ads.

You have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal data, and to restrict or object to its processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at contact@mayappstudio.com.

15. Your Rights Under CCPA (California Residents)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we collect about you and how it is used.
• Request deletion of your personal information.
• Opt out of the sale of personal information. Memoriq does not sell personal information.
• Not be discriminated against for exercising your CCPA rights.

16. Data Retention and Deletion

• Local data: You can delete all local data at any time from Settings → Reset App Data.
• Server data: If you have synced data, you can delete your account and all server-side data from Settings → Account.
• We retain server-side data only as long as your account is active. After account deletion, data is permanently removed within 30 days.

17. Children's Privacy

Memoriq is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

18. International Data Transfers

If you are outside the United States, your data (when cloud sync or AI features are used) may be transferred to and processed in the United States on AWS infrastructure. By using these features, you consent to this transfer.

19. Do Not Track

Memoriq does not respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals because it is a native mobile app. However, Memoriq's default behavior is equivalent — we do not track you across apps or websites.

20. Data Breach Notification

In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users via email (if we have your email address) and/or through an in-app notice within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, as required by applicable law.

21. Third-Party Services

Memoriq integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

• Google AdMob — advertising (free tier only)
• RevenueCat — subscription management
• Sentry — crash reporting
• Amazon Web Services — cloud sync, authentication, AI processing
• Apple Sign in with Apple — authentication
• Google Sign-In — authentication

22. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Memoriq after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy. For material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email.
